Do you have a nickname? Rosie

When and why did you first become interested in gymnastics? I started gymnastics when I was 3 because my sister was a gymnast and I wanted to be like her! I knew even when I was young that my heart belonged to gymnastics.

Do you have any good/funny memories from when you first started taking gymnastics classes? In level 4 I forgot my floor routine and did the same part over and over again!

When did you decide you wanted to compete? And, when did you want to compete at a high level? What about competition appeals to you? In level 4 I came in 2nd and 3rd almost every competition and at the state meet I came in 1st place for the first time. I got so excited. That’s when I knew I wanted to continue to become a high level competitive gymnast. I love competing because I love to go out there and perform with my best friends. I also really like it because I get to show off my skills that I have worked on all year.

What is your training regimen? Was that a big change when you made the switch to competitive gymnastics? I train Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30-7:30 after school, Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-8:30 and on Saturdays I practice from 10:15-2:15. No, for each junior Olympic level the hours got a little longer.

What is your favorite event? One of my favorite events is floor because I like to perform my routine to the music. My teammates and I cheer for each other and have a lot of fun.

How have you grown as a gymnast during your career, both skill wise and mentally? My skills have improved through the years. I have also worked hard on consistency with my skills that I compete as well as working on new skills at practice. I have become mentally stronger while working towards my goals.

How has gymnastics helped you as a person? Gymnastics has taught me to stay focused and goal driven. I have made lifelong friends and I have grown both physically and mentally stronger.

If you had to select one life-lesson that gymnastics has taught you, what would it be? It has taught me to work hard and never give up on your goals.

What are your biggest accomplishments or best memories in your career? Qualifying to JO Nationals my first year as a level 10, verbally committing to the University of Denver for gymnastics, qualifying and earning the silver medal at the 2017 Nastia Liukin Cup and qualifying for the 2018 Nastia Liukin Cup!
